Ford Motor Company is one of the Big Three American manufacturers and automobiles it produces are sold throughout the world. Ford's products attract people of all ages and professions due to a wide range of dynamic and reliable features. Ford's trucks and SUV's have been especially popular with the public. Moreover Ford F truck has been ranked as the best-selling vehicle in America for dozens of years.

The foundation of company goes back to 1903 when Henry Ford obsessed with an idea to create a car that would be affordable for masses established the factory. The home of the company was in Michigan where the first Ford's Models A were manufactured in 1903. The Ford models usually got their name according to the letters of alphabet. Probably the most popular car of this "alphabetical" series was Model T that was on offer since 1908 till 1927. Low price made the car popular with the mass and 16.5 million people eventually bought the car. The cost was so affordable that even the workers of the Ford's factory could own a Ford.

The Ford Motor company is known worldwide also due to the introduction of the moving assembly line. It was the first company in the world that employed this cost-effective technology. The moving assembly line later on became the basis of the manufacturing process but such an early introduction allowed to cut down the price and make the car affordable.

But along with popular mass cars Ford Motor Company started the production of luxury cars. For that purpose the company bought Lincoln Motor Company in 1925.

After the war the legendary Thunderbird boosted the popularity of the company. But the following Ford's brand, Edsel, was much less successful.

The next rise of the Company was related with the introduction of the sporty Ford Mustang one of the best-selling cars of that time. A combination of affordable price and huge power attracted many buyers. Ford Mustang was the first car that was named "the pony car".

But in the 1970s the tastes of the public changed and Ford had to adjust to new circumstances. Besides new governmental regulations took effect, which hardly contributed to either performance of the cars or their popularity.

In the 1990s Ford came back to its positions as an automobile force. Gaining power with extremely popular Ford's SUVs the company expanded and purchases Volvo's car division and Land Rover.

However at the beginning of the 21st century Ford faced problems caused by huge competition on the automobile market, legacy costs and others.
